ABOUT KERRY MARREN

Bringing Proven Leadership to Serve You

Kerry Marren was born in Milwaukee and grew up in rural Dane County. After living in several parts of the country, she and her husband Sean chose to raise their three children in the Town of Christiana, where they’ve been rooted since 2010.

Kerry’s career has been centered on service—working in special education, UW–Extension, and for nearly a decade as a Family Resource Coordinator connecting families across Wisconsin to food, housing, childcare, healthcare, and other essential supports. Today, she serves as Community Outreach and Communications Coordinator and Food Pantry Coordinator for the Cambridge Community Activities Program (CAP).

These experiences drive Kerry’s work on the Dane County Board. She brings a practical, community-first approach focused on food security, public safety, responsible budgeting, protecting farmland and groundwater, expanding rural broadband, and making sure rural communities have a strong voice in county decisions.

KERRY MARREN'S PRIORITIES

The Path Forward

Food Security, Basic Needs & Public Safety

I’m committed to making sure people have what they need to get through hard times, including access to food, essential services, and safe communities. I support strong county investments in public health, emergency management, crisis response, and coordination with local first responders so help is there when residents need it.

Community-Driven Local Government â€‹

I believe county decisions—especially around public safety, land use, and services—are strongest when they’re shaped by the people most affected. I focus on listening, collaboration, and ensuring small towns and rural communities have a meaningful voice in Dane County policies.

Responsible Use of Public Dollars

I believe public money should be treated with care and respect. I push for transparency, oversight, and long-term planning while ensuring core county functions—like the Sheriff’s Office, 911 dispatch, emergency management, and public health—are adequately supported without overburdening taxpayers.

Land Use, Conservation & Water Protection

I support Dane County’s role in protecting farmland, groundwater, and drinking water through practical, voluntary conservation programs that keep working lands viable and preserve rural character.

Infrastructure & Broadband â€‹

I advocate for smart county investments in rural broadband, transportation, and emergency communications, using one-time funds where appropriate to improve safety and connectivity without raising local taxes.

Support for Working Families & Seniors

I prioritize county policies that strengthen affordability, stability, and access to services—especially for working families, seniors, and rural residents—so people can safely age, work, and remain in the communities they call home.

District 37 Map

Along the far eastern edge of Dane County, District 37 encompasses Cambridge, Rockdale, Christiana, and portions of surrounding rural townships like Deerfield and Albion. Distinct from the urban density of Madison, our district is defined by its rich agricultural heritage and small-town character. Our priorities focus on the unique needs of this landscape, including responsible land use, the maintenance of local services, and the protection of vital water resources.
